"Thank you for all the support you've shown, it's truly appreciated.
We put 2 1/2 years of blood, sweat and tears into this album - mainly took that long because it was made between working on Brown Bag AllStars music, doing shows and preparing for battles.
So I was talking to my mans Lakim last night and he shot this song over to me. This may be the last song he posts up for a while because as you can see in the song title, he's going on hiatus until the new year. Not a hiatus from making beats, but from pretty much all forms of social networking in an effort to work on a few new projects and handle some very personal business that I won't disclose. All I can say is best of luck to him and come back even stronger homie!
I came across the progressive label "Raw Tapes Records" on one of my late night search sessions for new producers to promote. The vision of the label is to - ".. revolve around one thing – BEATS". With this statement in mind, let me introduce you to their most recently acquired artist – Radixx and the single from his debut EP coming soon. The single includes 3 tracks and a radical Tweet remix of "Oops (Oh My)" which you can download for free. There is also an atmospheric remix of the much loved (and Dilla produced) Slum Village classic 'Get Dis Money', which highlights his ability to breathe new life into a renowned track. Keep an eye on Radixx and the dope label Raw Tapes Records.
Dimlite, is by far one of the most elusive and creative villains in this here electronic beat realm. Known for his mystical sample-based creations and sporadic vocoder moments, he is an artist who always strives to engage the weird and obscure, so imagine my delight when I received word that he had graced us with a 50-minute electronic mix for the good people of Stones Throw as part of their Podcast Series.
If you are unfamiliar with his work, be sure to check his most debut LP, Runbox Weathers, a must for beat-head connoisseurs everywhere.
Got the links to this little number a few days ago and am heavily impresses. Co-produced by Kidkanevil, ‘Ariel’ sees Stateless return with a cyber-synth song that is tinged with a heavy ethnic hook - a combination that is sure to catapult this song into the playlists of tastemakers the world over.
The video is colourful mix of swirls and dots interwoven with contemporary dance, so even if the song feels too left of pop for you, then watch it on mute and treat your ocular cavities to something wondrous. Remixes come courtesy of Warp Records beatsmith, Rustie, who manages to sprinkle his synthetic synth tapestry on the vocals of Chris James to create a haunting interpretation. While Dark Sky, raises the tempo with a dance-floor ready dubstep-ish number. The single will be available from November 22nd 2010 and the album entitled ‘Matilda’ is due for release in February 2011 on Ninja Tune.
Last week the homie Tek put me up on this young lady from Atlanta, GA by the name of DJ JW. She makes a variety of music from Hip-Hop to Trip-Hop to Experimental and you will get to hear all of these styles and then some within this beat tape. Lots of dope, chilled-out vibes on this so don't sleep.
**Sidenote - REALLY, what's good with all these producer who don't even hade drivers liscenses being better than people twice their age??? It's a new era and new breed of talent people, take notice...
Randomly ran into Kadaj a week ago on Soundcloud and was in for quite a pleasant surprise. This beat maker from the DC area had some straight up slappers on his page and his latest project "Kaydeekay" just dropped yesterday. You definitely get the DMV sound you expect in terms of punchy kicks and crisp, cracking snares. Definitely worth a listen, especially since it's FREE! "Love x3" is a personal favorite of mine.
I've been waiting for this since Bibal told me he was working on it back in late August. If you haven't heard of Mister bibal before you need to go catch up on his "Beats & Breaks Series" NOW. Dude is the truth on the production tip! The EP will drop on Bunker Sounds November 27th. Shouts to Bibal for keeping me updated on this!
COFFEE HOUSE SWINGER was definitely LOVE at first play. Now he brings you another album of soul-boom bap-electronic-jazz pop, just purely dope mellow instrumentals for days. Boho Fau. Remember the name.
